The Woodbook
The Woodbook. By Romeyn Beck Hough. Taschen, 2002. Hardback, packaged in plywood box. 864 pages. The book itself is in excellent condition, just a few marks to the matte black back cover. The wooden box has a small scrape to the front that doesn't detract from its appearance. Note: the book is very heavy. The Woodbook is a facsimile of a fourteen-volume tome originally published between 1888 and 1913 that featured actual wood samples. This Taschen edition reproduces all of those samples, along with botanical information and lithographs by Charles Sprague Sargent of the leaves and nuts of most trees. A very handsome edition that would make a lovely gift for woodworkers, craftspeople, interior decorators, artists, and nature lovers. You might also be interested in...
