Designed by one of the pioneers of Danish modern furniture, Hans Wegner, this sofa and daybed is an extremely functional yet stylish purchase. His work is highly esteemed and has been exhibited in cultural centers like the iconic Centre Pompidou in Paris. "A chair is to have no backside,” said Wegner, “it should be beautiful from all sides and angles." This daybed certainly mirrors the designer’s sensibility of furniture as an art form. The backrest of the sofa cantilevers up to create a spacious bed. This action is very satisfying as the hinging mechanism works effortlessly.

Once you sink into its soft blue-checkered cushion you may never want to get up. In excellent vintage condition without any marks or stains, this sofa has its original cane backrest in meticulous condition, unusual as these daybeds often have been reupholstered. The sofa comes with the original serviceable upholstery, which is a great candidate for an update to fit with any décor or color scheme. This daybed we have for sale was made in  Denmark by the Getama Manufacturing Company in the 1960s. Overall this is a wonderful all-original daybed; the teak frame is bright and has no noticeable marks or blemishes.
