First-issue Model 925 Lounge Chair, in walnut and cognac leather, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina. Based on an earlier sketch by Carlo Scarpa, the design was finally realized in the 1960s, within an innovative series of furnishings by the Italian duo. The low lounge chair has a minimal and well-balanced silhouette, with square legs that intriguingly contrast with the rounded seat. The molded plywood seat is elevated with sumptuous leather, stitched to closely fit the frame. This example is crafted in an especially rich combination of warm cognac leather and dark lacquered wood. Chair is in wonderful condition, with an attractive patina to the leather. Early paper label is present on the underside. Italy, 1960s.
