Original Navy Blue Molded Fiberglass Shell Chair, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. Vintage shell chairs are prized for their attractive patina, distinct thread texture and beautiful depth of color seen in the fiberglass material. Shell is stamped with the Herman Miller emblem underneath. Dated to the 1960s.

We only send out the finest vintage examples. A close inspection ensures each shell is free of chips, cracks, or defects. We replace the rubber shockmounts that attach the chairs to the base. Finally, the chairs are carefully polished to enhance the original finish. Our meticulous restoration process ensures the chairs are comfortable, stable and is an added value included in your purchase.
The Eames Shell Chair was designed on the principle of adaptability, to accommodate a variety of uses and settings. Our shell chairs are shown on original zinc-finish bases, referred to as "H bases" by Eames enthusiasts. In addition to this classic option, we stock additional base styles suitable for home or office use. We offer both vintage bases and high-quality new-production bases that are handcrafted in the USA. Chairs are disassembled to ensure safe transit and economical transportation costs. Assembly at home is straightforward and requires only a basic screwdriver. DELIVERY OPTIONS
When you have an item in your shopping cart, you will see three shipping options. You must choose one to continue the check-out process. Our three primary methods are detailed below, along with specialized information for Eames shell chairs.
CUSTOMER PICK-UP
You're welcome to do the heavy lifting yourself! Items of furniture purchased online or over the phone must be picked up in a timely manner. (If you cannot pick up the item within several days, call to make alternate arrangements.) Pick-ups must occur during regular business hours and you must notify us of your plans, since other pieces of furniture often must be moved to make your piece accessible. Be sure to measure your vehicle to ensure the item will fit. Bring a strong friend and a blanket or two to protect your piece as it travels home.
LOCAL DELIVERY
We offer blanket-wrapped local delivery in the New York City area. Delivery ranges from $85-250 depending on the item and destination. Your new item is delivered inside your home and furniture legs are reattached if necessary. If you have any questions about local delivery please give us a call.
LONG-DISTANCE DELIVERY
We use Plycon for long-distance shipping. Items are securely blanket wrapped and delivered inside the home. Shipments generally take 2-3 weeks to reach the West Coast. While we do our best to provide accurate quotes, some items of greater value require additional insurance and handling costs; in such cases we reserve the right to adjust the final delivery charge.
INTERNATIONAL LONG-DISTANCE
We offer affordable, fully insured international long-distance shipping quotes as we ship regularly to Europe and Asia. Please email us directly for a shipping quote and include your name, full address, phone number, and email. While we do our best to provide accurate quotes, some items of greater value require additional insurance and handling costs; in such cases we reserve the right to adjust the final delivery charge. Items shipped to Europe arrive within 3-5 business days of ship date. Items shipped to Asia arrive in 7-10 days of ship date.
